I have just looked on the Forscan Forum site, and there is a fair amount of entries about coding for the 1.6TDCI (DV6), so it looks like Forscan can do it. The Seimens/VDO injectors on the Mk2 Focus 1.8TDCI apparently are not individually coded, so no factors need to be entered. The ECU just adjusts.
Fault determined to be with injector no. 1, Ford garage wanted £1000 to fix it. Took it to independent tester with full machine for injector testing. He found no faults with any of the injectors, so he switched injector no.1 and injector no.3 around so if the fault re-occurred, we would be able to find the faulty one.
Last night however I was driving home and as I was approaching a roundabout at 40mph in 5th gear I changed down to 3rd gear then to 2nd gear and the engine systems fault warning light came on. The car then started "juddering" and would not go above 20mph or 2000 revs. I pulled over after crawling round the roundabout and turned the engine off.
My brother's 2008 Focus 1.8TDCI. Charging fault, low alternator output measured across battery terminals and from the main output terminal on top of alternator. he had to call AA out as battery was flat 20 miles from home. They said alternator bad and my voltmeter tests seem to confirm that. So my brother bought 2nd hand alternator on eBay.
After running at 3000rpm for 10 mins and left to idle, the coolant is pretty much boiling and canāt be seen in the expansion vessel. This implies that the level of coolant is low and it is only visible in the vessel due to an abundance of air trapped, given that water doesnāt compress and thereās only so much bulging of rubber pipes to be had.
